Haggis Scones

For a hearty truly home-baked snack that will make your kitchen smell delicious why not try this simple recipe for our haggis scones. They are ideal for freezing too, if of course they last that long!!

Ingredients:
500g self-raising flour
50g sugar
100g haggis
110g butter
300ml milk
Pinch of salt and crushed black peppers

Method:
Mix flour, haggis, sugar and butter together in a large bowl (with your hands) until it crumbles and has a breadcrumb like consistency.
Next spread the mixture to the edge of the bowl and create a hole in the centre where the milk will be added.
Add milk into the mixture and using a wooden spoon gently mix the ingredients together; start by flipping the edges of the mixture to the centre until you have a dough like consistency.
Transfer the mixture to a flour coated surface.
Roll out a dough to desired thickness (about 3 cm.) and then cut scone shapes with a pastry cutter.
Place them on a baking try and finish with egg wash.
Bake at 200 C (fan assisted ovens) for 15-20 minutes or until it golden brown.

Serve:
Delicious with lashings of butter and thick homemade soup.

  3. Apologies, we’d missed adding the crucial ingredient; haggis. Updated now. They’re not currently available to buy but if interest continues at this rate maybe we’ll become better known for our haggis scones than our sausages!!
